More Excitement in KS2
Year 6 had a successful and intriguing introduction to this year’s book, Trash by Andy Mulligan, which was followed today by Years 3, 4 and 5, who experienced all manner of wild and wonderful things in an effort to discover their book.
Year 3 found a mysterious old suitcase, which was conveniently unlocked and full of strange items. They removed the items one-by-one and tried to figure out what could possibly connect them. They found a Titanic life ring, a cat, a recording of opera singing, an incredibly damp dress, an old newspaper cutting and lots of ice! After some very lively discussion and intense guesswork, it was revealed that their book is… Kaspar: Prince of Cats by Michael Morpurgo!
Year 4 had a classroom plunged into darkness, with clues and questions scattered around each table. Pupils were given props to inspect, which included a rat, some grainy photographs, a hat & cane, and a big pot of gruel! Pupils had to inspect all of the clues by candlelight to discover what sort of place could possibly house such items. They then came together to discuss their findings and what they could mean, when it was revealed that their book is… Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens!
Year 5 began with the dramatic removal of one teacher from the classroom, which led to the both classes being led to the main hall. Once there, they found that the hall was covered with strange leaflets and a pile of tickets advertising a circus, which was taking place today! They were instructed to hold on to one ticket each over morning break, in case they had an opportunity to use it.
After morning break, they returned to the Year 5 classrooms to discover that they had walked right in to the circus and there were performers, who looked suspiciously like their teachers, waiting for them. After some questionable circus skills, the title of the book was revealed as… Cirque Du Freak by Darren Shan!
Amazing work and imagination from Years 3, 4 and 5 today, we’re sure they will all have a fantastic time with their books!
